Iolite, a stone known as the ‘Viking Compass,’ It was said that one could hold a thin slab towards the sky, serving as a glare-reducer which created a polarized filter to help navigate and locate the sun on cloudy days, pinpointing their direction while out at sea. Ancient Shamans were said to use  Iolite to enhance their ability to have clear visions. Some legends even say iolite helped to strengthen eyesight. Some metaphysical beliefs of Iolite are said to promote pure thoughts, intuition and self-acceptance.
